North American Tank, LLC, designer and fabricator of custom stainless steel and aluminum tanks and components, recently announced plans to expand its Ozark, Missouri operation located in the Springfield region.  Operating in a niche market of truck-mount tanks and tank trailers, the company plans to renovate a second building next to its primary facility to accommodate the growth.

“Ozark and Southwest Missouri is home to a technically-skilled workforce that has allowed North American Tank to manufacture the type of high-quality product that our customers have grown to expect,” said Jim Mohan, president of North American Tank. “Expanding here means increasing hiring, increasing production, and increasing opportunities for North American Tank—we’re very eager for this next phase in our company.”

The company has committed to creating 30 new jobs, with new jobs paying above the county average wage, doubling their current workforce.  This expansion, a $200,000 capital investment, qualified for state incentives through the Missouri Works Program, and the City of Ozark also provided incentives by way of infrastructure improvements.

Stainless steel manufacturers across the Springfield region are experiencing growth as a result of increased demand.  With a high quality production workforce and a low cost of doing business in Springfield, North American Tank and other notable manufacturers including most recent expansions by Stainless Technology and Watson Metal Masters, anticipate substantial and continued growth in the coming years.  These expansions are not only indicative of the type of growth stainless steel fabrication has experienced, but also for the manufacturing industry as a whole.  In the last two years alone, manufacturing employment has increased by 8.7% in the Springfield metro area.
